Bring Font Family Grouping to CorelDRAW for Mac

Problem

CorelDRAW for Mac has a long-standing usability issue with the way font families and their styles are displayed in the font selection interface.

Unlike CorelDRAW for Windows, which provides a "Group by family" option, the Mac version frequently displays individual font weights and styles as separate font families.

For example:

  • Helvetica is displayed correctly as one family, with Light, Regular, Bold, Italic, and other styles available in a separate dropdown.

  • Gilroy displays weights such as Gilroy-BoldItalic, Gilroy-Heavy, and Gilroy-BlackItalic as separate entries.

  • Averta CY similarly separates weights into individual family entries rather than presenting all available styles under one family.

These same fonts are correctly organized into families in Apple's Font Book. This suggests that CorelDRAW for Mac is not consistently recognizing or presenting font family and style information.

Why this matters

For professional designers working with extensive typeface libraries, this creates several problems:

  • Unnecessarily long and cluttered font lists.

  • Slower navigation between weights and styles.

  • Inconsistent font selection behavior between typefaces.

  • A less efficient typography workflow compared with CorelDRAW for Windows.

This issue has been present across multiple Mac versions of CorelDRAW, not just the 2026 release.

Proposed Improvement

Please introduce a "Group by Family" option in CorelDRAW for Mac, consistent with the functionality available in the Windows version.

The expected behavior is straightforward:

  1. Display each typeface family as a single entry in the font list.

  2. Provide a separate dropdown or expandable submenu for all available weights and styles.

  3. Ensure consistent family recognition across properly structured OpenType and TrueType fonts.

  4. Allow users to enable or disable family grouping according to their preference.

Additional Context

CorelDRAW has already introduced a more organized font-family selection experience in CorelDRAW Web. Bringing similar functionality to the native Mac application would improve consistency across the product ecosystem.

Request

Please clarify whether this is a known limitation of the Mac version and whether font family grouping is planned for a future release.

For designers who use CorelDRAW daily for brand identity, typography, and editorial design, this is a fundamental workflow improvement rather than a cosmetic interface change.
