The Envelope tool only exposes its boundary. Whatever happens inside the artwork is interpolated from the outline, so there's no way to reach in and control the middle.
That single limitation sits behind several requests already on this portal:

Each is a different symptom of the same thing. A cylinder, a cone, an accurate fit — none can be expressed by moving boundary nodes, because the compression has to happen in the interior.
The mesh interaction already exists in CorelDRAW. Effects > Distort > Mesh Warp does exactly what's needed — reposition the nodes of a superimposed grid, with a grid size and saveable presets. But it isn't a transformation. Apply it to a vector circle and the object is rasterised; the edges go soft. It's a raster filter that happens to have a mesh UI.
Which is the point. CorelDRAW's object-level transformations — Envelope, Perspective — are live, editable, and keep vectors as vectors. Mesh Warp is the missing third member of that family, built into the wrong one.
So this isn't really a new feature. It's an envelope mode that builds a mesh of N rows × M columns and lets the interior nodes move, on the envelope we already have — non-destructive, editable, removable, stackable, with saved presets.
One refinement worth designing in from the start: CorelDRAW already lets an envelope take its boundary from another object. The interior deserves the same idea — surface presets such as cylinder, cone and sphere — rather than always starting as a uniform grid to be matched node by node.
That would cover labels on cylinders and cones, artwork following the folds of a garment, and patterns sitting correctly on a curved surface. It also generalises the requests above: a cylinder or a cone becomes a preset rather than a separate feature.
