You can use the Search function in the Objects docker/inspector to find specific layers by the name.
Also, the layers determine the order of objects as they are stacked on the page. When you change the order of the layers this may result in a changed appearance of your design elements (objects on the top layer in the list appear in front of objects on layers further down in the stack).
