i bought a macbok pro with m4 pro which cost me US$2500. i come from a windows background which spans nearly 22 years. the only two reasons i went for mac were these : 1. battery backup, I can sit safely even during a power cut; 2. availability of coreldraw for mac, as 50% of my job is done in coreldraw, this was a crucial requirement. but after purchasing mac and spending money on coreldraw, i came to the dark truth that there is no option to create barcodes in the mac version. this is serious. many of my friends who were planning to purchase a mac have backed off. the mac version of coreldraw is crashing too much. i think they have just ported the windows version to mac in a hurry. there is no customer service either. i was trying, and later even paid for affinity designer. but it seems complicated and lacking many features. if someone from corel is reading this, please pay attention. many graphic desginers are depending on your product for the features it provides. i can't find a reason to just remove it in mac. the app also takes too much time to launch. the saddest part is that the web version of coreldraw also misses the bar code feature. hope something positive happens soon.
I'm a returning user to Corel Draw having used it for 8 years between 1999-2006. In the meantime I've been a Mac user running Adobe's Creative Cloud applications... but recently I was revisiting Corel Draw to investigate whether it could handle certain aspects of design that other applications such as Illustrator, Inkscape or Affinity Designer had missed - and two big wins for me were the ability to manipulate finer detail in QR codes, and the native 'block shadow' effect (that is otherwise difficult to do in other applications without hacks or plug–ins). However, a big drawback is that the barcode wizard that is available on Windows is not available for Mac - this is disappointing as other major software manufacturers such as Adobe and Serif make their applications as identical as possible between platforms. Missing the barcode wizard on a mac is potentially missing out on a market in designing labels and packaging. I would encourage the developers to seriously consider this suggestion.
