I put objects into my corel files often. I know I can double click an excel spread sheet and it opens and I update it and no problem, But I would love it if I could go directly to the the linked spreadsheet, update it, and when I open Corel it would be updated in my file. This would be especially convenient in Revision Tables, where the only thing I need to update is a date, and where the same table is in multiple Corel drawings.
Update: It is also important to note that if you don't have a 'subscription' the import filter in the Source Docker is limited. I've learned this a painful way. At home, on my subscription based version, I can link vectors of all kinds, CDR, AI, SVG etc. On the non-subscribed version, I am limited to only raster formats. This is a severe handicap for me at work.
I've just tried this, and I have to tell you, THANK YOU! Holy cow this is HUGE! How did I not know about this?? I maintain labels where I work, and when the template changes, It's a lot of work to get the child labels updated. This is a game changer for me and I am REALLY mad at myself that I never knew it was there.
Hi Ryan. Thank you! I've been using Corel for more than 30 years and had no idea. I'm going to check this out.
Hi Lorrie, you can do what you are asking with the Sources docker. By using the Sources docker, you can add a linked file (.cdr/.des/.xls/.xlsx). If that file is modified, you can use the Sources docker to sync with the parent file to update your drawing. This works especially well with excel tables to update any cells with new data in your drawing while keeping it's position and size.
