Enhancing Usability in CorelDRAW 2024: Towards a More Intuitive and Inclusive Software
Proposal for New Features in CorelDRAW 2024 for Mac
Currently, CorelDRAW has some limitations compared to other software like Affinity Designer and Adobe Illustrator. Below, I outline several features that could enhance usability and make the software more intuitive for users:
Customization of the User Interface (UI): Allow users to configure their workspace according to their preferences, making it easier to access desired tools. Users should have the ability to move individual tools and place them in the toolbox (left sidebar) or in the top bars (standard command bar or properties bar). image demonstration workspace 1, 2
Workspace Saving and Management: 2.1) Enable users to save their customized workspace and provide the option to export/import workspace presets. 2.2) Allow users to save their configured settings in CorelDRAW 2024 and provide the option to export/import them.
Customizable Keyboard Shortcuts: Offer the ability to set personalized keyboard shortcuts, so users can operate CorelDRAW as if they were using Illustrator, without having to learn new key combinations.
Quick Access to the Grid: Allow users to activate the grid directly from the main interface, without needing to navigate through settings or preferences.
Management of Multiple Canvases: Enable users to view multiple canvases within the same workspace and facilitate the copy and paste of one or more objects between canvases. Additionally, allow for intuitive selection and resizing of the canvases. video demonstration 1
Advanced Snapping Options: Provide more options for snapping features, such as:
Snapping to objects
Snapping to the grid
Snapping to guidelines
Snapping to canvas edges
Snapping to distances and size references
Snapping to shapes and tangents
Snapping to points
Collision and formation snapping Ensure that these options can be used simultaneously without conflicts, as already seen in Affinity Designer. image demonstration magnet 1 and 2
Integrated Help Search: Implement a search bar within CorelDRAW 2024 that allows users to search for tools and features directly from the help section, improving access to information. video demonstration 2
Request for Support
I have recently developed this proposal for new features that could enhance usability and make CorelDRAW 2024 more intuitive and inclusive. I believe these changes would benefit not only me but also many other users.
If anyone with influence in the CorelDRAW team could support this proposal, it would be fantastic! I hope that, with your help, we can contribute to making CorelDRAW an even better software.
I agree completely with Ron and Sean. CorelDRAW is painful to use on a Mac. Aside from crashing consistently, selecting an object with the pick tool is very difficult with hairlines.Cut and paste is unreliable with the mouse. It seems to work fine with Edit in the menu bar. Occasionally the screen just goes nuts with the file I'm working on...flashing in and out, and there's no recovery other than to close the file and re-open it. I truly hope that when this software is updated, all the reliability issues will be resolved. I'd also suggest that the update should be offered for free to the Mac users. There's no way this software in it's current state should have been unleashed on the Mac public.
The Mac version of CorelDRAW needs extra special attention. I am regularly creating Mac files that stop opening on my Mac. I have to move the file to my PC in order to open them and work on them.

No offense... CD is horrible on a Mac.
