Why it’s useful:
In large-scale design environments such as signage, packaging, marketing, or branding, designers often need to update a specific word, phrase, or product code across hundreds or even thousands of .CDR files. Currently, this requires opening each file individually and manually searching for the target text. This is time-consuming, inefficient, and highly prone to human error. A batch keyword search function would drastically streamline this process, especially in cases where changes are driven by branding updates, legal requirements, or standardised terminology changes.
Who would benefit from it:
Signage and wayfinding teams managing multi-site deployments
Print and prepress operators who must verify text accuracy across campaign rollouts
Brand and marketing agencies handling bulk templated assets
Technical illustrators updating labels, part numbers, or instructional callouts
Design teams in regulated industries who must audit documents for compliance terms or disclaimers
How it should work:
A utility within CorelDRAW or Corel CONNECT that allows users to select a folder (or multiple folders) containing .CDR files
The tool should scan for user-specified text strings within both Artistic Text and Paragraph Text
Output results in a simple report format (e.g. CSV or on-screen list) showing:
Filename
Page number (if applicable)
Layer name
Object type (Artistic or Paragraph text)
Preview or snippet of the found text
Optional functionality:
Replace text in batch or with confirmation
Filter by styles, fonts, or locked layers
Limit search to specific master pages or layers
This would allow designers to quickly locate, verify, and update content at scale—saving countless hours and reducing manual errors.
