Stop 'nodes' showing up immediately after a freehand stroke [found - ctrl+j Hide Bounding Box]

I find it very frustrating to try and sketch and scribble whenever I finish drawing a line the 'nodes' show up and rather than letting me do more stroked it's selecting the nodes - I find this really frustrating I'm sure I could use longer lines but if I want to draw a certain way the tool is prohibitive.
