Print Merge - select by filter or group

When performing a mail merge, I often want only part of the list I'm working with to be merged. I know I can select or unselect all with a single click, but If I have to select 100 out of 300 records, I'd rather do that by a filter OR by sorting the list, highlighting the first record I want, highlighting the last record I want, and then hitting space or the select/unselect toggle.
